Two separate macabre crimes within days illustrate just how frightening and disturbing the human psyche can be.

A 31-year old man, identified as Rudy Eugene, was shot dead last Saturday by police responding to a 911 call near the MacArthur Causeway in Miami, Florida. Officers arriving on scene witnessed a grisly spectacle in which Eugene had attacked 65 year-old Ronald Poppo and was then chewing on the victim’s face.

Eyewitnesses reported that Eugene growled at police when they arrived and that he continued to bite into Poppo’s face even after being wounded by an officer. Police had no choice but to then fatally shoot Eugene and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reports indicate that the 31 year-old was under the influence of a new street drug known as “bath salts,” an LSD-type drug that causes mass hallucinations and other adverse side effects. “When a person has taken all of his clothes off and become violent, it’s indicative of this excited delirium that’s caused by overdose of drugs,” Armando Aguilar, head of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police, told the city’s WSVN news. “What’s happening is, inside their body their organs are burning up alive.”

Witness Larry Vega, who was the first to come across Mr. Eugene and Mr. Poppo, describes what he saw. “The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, ‘Get off!’” Vega stated. “The guy just kept eating the other guy away, like, ripping his skin.”

The victim had over 75% of his face chewed off but was still conscious during transport to the hospital. He is currently recovering at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and remains in critical condition.

Earlier this week, two mail packages containing human body parts were sent to both the Conservative and the Liberal Party of Canada headquarters in Ottawa. This was followed by a human torso being found outside of an apartment complex in nearby Montreal, Quebec.

The story, a strange mystery at first, took an even more sinister turn when a video surfaced online apparently showing a man being murdered and mutilated inside an apartment. Police believe that the video is real, that they have located the apartment, and that the killing is related to the mailed body parts but have yet to be able to confirm this through DNA testing.

29 year-old Luka Rocco Magnotta, rumored to be a bisexual porn star and male prostitute, is suspected of being the attacker in the online “snuff” film. The video was originally posted on BestGore.com with the following description: “1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick is without a doubt the sickest thing you will have ever seen in your entire life. It is a sad reminder that things far worse than any of us would ever imagine really take place in our neighborhoods. It is a sickening reflection of who we, as a human race have become. Turning our heads and pretending the video doesn’t exist would only make the perpetrator feel more secure and open to further exploitation.”

The 11-minute video depicts what is thought to be Mr. Magnotta attacking a naked man, who is tied to a bed frame, with both an ice pick and a kitchen knife. The victim is stabbed, has his throat slashed, and is later decapitated and dismembered. The killer then begins to play with his victim’s limbs and uses one of the arms to masturbate himself. The attacker later performs anal sex on the dismembered, decapitated corpse. They also use a knife and fork to slice a piece of fatty flesh from the buttocks of the victim and then bring in a dog to eat parts of the corpse.

Magnotta has yet to be apprehended and a Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued. A warrant for his arrest has been issued by INTERPOL as well.

Unfortunately, we currently live in a society that seems to have subconsciously accepted pure evil with arms wide open and no questions asked. Our young sons and daughters have been overly sexualized, our men and women in uniform torture and rape for their own enjoyment, our priests practice in pedophilia, our politicians are pathological liars, and our court systems offer no honest opportunity to right any one of these wrongs.

The next generation of youth has absolutely no real role models to look up to, no real job prospects to look forward to, and many of them are overwhelmed by an all-encompassing sense of complete hopelessness. In societal conditions such as these, the mentally deranged are a lot more inclined to physically act upon their violent and sadistic impulses.

As trends forecaster Gerald Celente has always said: “when people lose everything, they have nothing left to lose and they lose it.”
